City girls go country!

Winter light, don’t you love it? I do!

We headed out of the city for a more rural backdrop, we had perfect conditions, which does not come round to often in Christchurch, so made the most of the gorgeous light, amongst sheep and the raspberry vines, and got some gorgeous shots…thanks girls for a fun photo session!

Meeting Lauren and Robin for the first time I got a strong sense of togetherness, love and respect and a real energy for life. Choosing photo locations was an easy decision, as they had a love for the hills. The summit of the Port Hills was their special place.

Together they had spent many hours, training up, in and around the summit for endurance events, so it was only natural they would choose this location for their wedding day images.

The 23rd April 2011 arrived and the weather could not have been more perfect, very unexpected for this time of the year, we all couldn’t have been happier, the light, soft and golden, the air, still and balmy… perfect for pictures! The day was filled with fun, enthusiasm, intimacy and elegance.

A body of work completed for my final project at the Design and Art College, Diploma of Contemporary Photography.

This was a culmination of eighteen months studying and I captured over two thousand images and managed to narrow my final best images to the eleven you can view below.

Sarah and Tim were one of my past wedding couples who were keen for me to photograph their new arrival, Noah.

His expressions were endless and he was a pleasure to photograph.

Here is a peek at some of those images.

Courtney and Jared were married at Langdale Wine Estate, West Melton on the 20th November 2010.

It was a special ceremony full of happiness and tears held in a lovely garden setting and I felt honoured to spend it with them.

You really need to get photos with your children before they grow up and leave the nest!

I was fortunate to have a morning with Maria and Glenn and their children, Jacob, Olivia, Luke and Mikayla.

We captured some great shots above the Heathcote Valley, on Maria’s families farm as well as down in the old Malt Works, where we had permission to photograph (November 2009, well before the recent Christchurch earthquakes).

I have processed these images using black and white and contemporary processing techniques.

Whatever style you like, whether traditional black and white or the latest contemporary style, I can produce the style of photos that you will love.

Riana & Jeremy arrived at Kaikoura Winery by helicopter but unfortunately, due to the low fog and drizzle we were unable to take a quick flight up Mt Fyfe for, what would have been amazing scenic backdrops.

We did manage to get onto the beach where Riana’s uncle Barry Foster flew his helicopter, helping to add to the sense of occasion.

The ceremony and reception was held in the wine cellar where all the guests were able to keep dry and had a constant stream of access to refreshments.

The images were captured on film and digitally.

Sometimes Nana and Pop’s, Grandma’s and Granddad’s, Granny’s and Nan’s just want photos of their grandchildren! Their pride and joy!

Sometimes rounding up all the grandchildren can be a challenge (or disaster) for the parents. That is where I step in and make it easy for you, and the results rewarding.

Seeing the smile on the parents and grandparents faces makes it all worth while!
